The Aquabahn Variety Show


Part of curating Lumpen Radio has been about seeking out the unheard and experimental. We think we found it with Aquabahn.

Paying titular homage to Drexciya, Aquabahn is an audio variety show where artists and guests are invited to create a 30 or 60 minute radio broadcast centered around a self-imposed central theme or concept. Aquabahn will intermittently premiere new artist curated broadcasts leading up to September 10–12, 2015, where Aquabahn will broadcast live from Dinca Vision Quest 2015 at Co-Prosperity Sphere Chicago. Shortly thereafter, each broadcast will be archived and available for on-demand streaming and download through Participating artists include Ando (The-Drum, JODI), desert_adder7, Ephraim Asili, Stephanie Barber, Kevin Carey, Lori Felker, Khalee (JODI), Jeff Kolar, Kelly Lloyd, Jesse Malmed, Jeremiah Meece (The-Drum, JODI, Valis), Will Thomas, Nick Williams & Chris Collins, USA_GOLD, Violet Systems, and more.

Aquabhan is presented & curated by and is part of Vision Quest is a three-day festival celebrating the most innovative contemporary moving image and media art culture from artists worldwide, with salient interest in supporting artworks made using unconventional processes and emerging technologies. Vision Quest is presented in a multimodal and multimedia format, where audiovisual performances are cross-pollinated with time-based media screenings and digitally exhibited and broadcasted components to present a showcase of the most essential contemporary media culture. The 2015 festival will be hosted at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago and Co-Prosperity Sphere from September 10–12, 2015. More information and full program at

Aquabhan will premiere at 10PM Tuesday, September 1st and new episodes will be broadcast daily until September 11th. On the 11th & 12th Dinca Vision Quest 2015 takes over Co-Prosperity Sphere and all programs will be simulcast live on Lumpen Radio..
